Twenty-one men arrested in Project Block

Sexual exploitation arrests

The Brandon Police Service, RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service have arrested 21 men as a result of an investigation into sexual exploitation in the Wheat City.

On June 23 and June 24, BPS, RCMP and the WPS counter-exploitation unit entered into a joint forces operation. The investigation was dubbed Project Block.

Over a 30-hour period, police arrested 21 men for obtaining sexual services for consideration. The men were arrested in various Brandon hotels and on the streets.

The accused ranged from 30 to 84 years of age.

In 14 of these arrests, the accused's vehicle was seized under the Highway Traffic Act for prostitution-related impoundment of a motor vehicle.

All of the accused were released with an undertaking.
