The Guelph Police Service says 40 bylaw charges have been laid following an eight-month investigation into several holistic spa businesses in the city.

Police say the investigation was launched in May 2025 by the service's Human Trafficking Unit in response to what officers described as a noticeable increase in online advertisements promoting sexual services linked to certain establishments.

The stated goal of the investigation was to ensure business operators and owners were complying with all applicable municipal bylaws.

According to police, the probe uncovered what they called a substantial number of bylaw infractions at multiple locations.

Charges were laid against six holistic spa businesses.

Police have not released further details about the specific bylaw violations.
