Pakistan: Cracking HIV/AIDS in Lahore Brothels

A recent survey of the red light district of Lahore, Pakistan, indicates that a large majority of the younger women in the brothels have a high level of awareness of HIV/AIDS and safe sex practices, thanks to peer counselors. The study, commissioned by the non-governmental AIDS Awareness Group UNAIDS-Pakistan, reports that 93 percent of commercial sex workers were able to identify AIDS correctly. Most of the commercial sex workers are taking preventative measures such as safe sex.
