Sex-trade worker brutally assaulted

Vancouver police want sextrade workers to be aware of a violent sexual assault on a woman with many years of experience in the business.

Spokesman Const. Jim Fanning said the woman felt the need to call police because of the brutal nature of the sex assault, which occurred last Sunday at 4 a.m. in the north lane of the 2700 block of Oxford Street in east Vancouver. Despite years on the street, the victim was disturbed by "the violent manner she was dealt with and the coldness of the attack," Fanning said.

The suspect was described as an Asian male, 5-foot-8, with a stocky build, who was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans. He was driving a mid-size, four-door sedan that was either silver or tan in colour. Anyone with information about the assault can call police at 604-717-3473.
